Another
wonderful feature of the House on Bayou Road Inn
is our cooking school in residence,
the New Orleans Cooking Experience. Offerings include half-day
classes, series classes and luxury cooking school vacations
focused on traditional Creole and Cajun recipes taught by
noted New Orleans chefs.
Guests will learn to cook authentic New Orleans cuisine
in focused, intimate classes. Both skilled cooks and food
enthusiasts are right at home with our talented chefs, the
pleasures of our table and the spirited camaraderie of our
classes. In each session we will enjoy some champagne, cook
a multi-course meal and then savor our creations, along
with fine wines, in our dining room or on the delightful
grounds of the House on Bayou Road.
Among our talented chefs are Frank Brigtsen, the James Beard
Award-winning chef of New Orleans’ famed Brigtsen’s Restaurant
and Poppy Tooker, Chiqui Collier and Boo Macomber, as well as an occasional guest chef.

Class
options include:
- Weekly half-day lunch or dinner
classes
- Three and four day weekend getaway vacations
- Private classes are also
available on request for individuals and small or large groups.
Reservations should be made
well in advance for vacation programs as classes are limited
to allow personal attention to each student. Partners of
cooking vacation participants are invited to stay at no
charge and may also dine with the class for an additional
charge.
Costs begin at $150 for House on Bayou Road guests. Regular
